Samsung Readying Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean-powered Full QWERTY Smartphone With Exynos 5250 CPU?

Even though Samsung recently announced two new smartphones Galaxy Music and Galaxy S3 Mini, the South Korea-based company didn’t overwhelm us with a large number of new terminals like it used to do. Well, a new and very interesting smartphone have been spotted on some Japanese websites, codenamed Samsung GT-B9150.

The source of this leak is talking about a Samsung smartphone with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on board, dual-core Exynos 5250 CPU clocked at 1.7 GHz, WiFi and a display with a resolution of 1,280 x 672 pixels.

What surprised us is the letter B in the smartphone’s codename, a letter that is usually used by the South Korean company for its Android smartphones with full QWERTY keyboard. So, is this the mysterious Samsung Galaxy Q, that appeared as a rumor but it was forgotten in the meantime? Or maybe a new tablet, eve though the display resolution makes me think otherwise.

Even though most of the phone makers are avoiding to launch touchscreen models with QWERTY keyboard, this doesn’t mean that there aren’t certain customers out there who would consider such products.

As about Exynos 5250, rumor has it that it was created to underpin Samsung Galaxy Note 2, but it wasn’t ready on time for the smartphone’s launch. Anyway, I can’t wait to see the Mali T604 GPU in action.

Even though there are voices saying that Samsung Galaxy S4 will be underpinned by a 2 GHz Exynos 5250, I personally don’t believe that the South Koreans will place a dual-core CPU inside their next flagship. Apple Launches iPad Mini Today, Aims At Nexus 7 And Kindle Fire HD

iPad Mini is the new Apple tablet that made the headlines over the past few months. For those of you looking forward to the new product, the wait will soon come to an end, as the Cupertino-based company is holding a press conference today, where the highly-anticipated iPad Mini will be officially announced. Well, at least that’s what the reports are showing.

The Apple iPad is definitely controlling the tablet segment, with a market share of over 65% in 2011. Analysts are indicating that Apple’s dominance of the tablet market will further reduce in 2012, projected to 61.4%.

Until Q4 2011 Apple had no rival on the segment, but since Amazon unveiled the affordable Kindle Fire, many of the customers chose the $199 over the highly-expensive iOS models.

It seems that Apple quickly figured out that the customers are seriously interested in the 7-inch tablets, therefore the iPad Mini is set to compete against two of the highly-appreciated tablets of the Android environment: Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD.

Google was the first company to “steal” the Kindle Fire recipe and launched the Nexus 7, an Android-powered tablet with quad-core processor, HD display and a price of only $200. On the other hand, the Kindle Fire HD is the successor of the first Kindle Fire, it shares its $200 price but comes with a better processor an a 7-inch HD display.

Even though no one is Apple to set a price of $200 for the iPad Mini, the new iOS-powered tablet will certainly be cheaper than iPad 2 or the New iPad. Analysts are estimating that the iPad Mini price will be $329, placing it between the iPod Touch and the iPad 2.

Rumor has it that iPad Mini will sport a 7.85-inch display with a resolution of 768 x 1024 pixels and that it will have the same hardware configuration as the iPad 2. Therefore, later today we might see an iPad Mini with a dual-core Apple A5 CPU at 1 GHz, 521 MB of RAM and 16/32/64 of internal storage. The tablet will come pre-loaded with iOS 6.

Will the iPad Mini outmatch the Nexus 7 or the Amazon Kindle Fire HD? Judging by the rumored technical specs, definitely not, but I have a hunch that it will outsell its Android rivals.

Motorola Droid Bionic ICS update now avaliable to all users

Recently it was announced that the long wait for Android 4.0.4 was finally over for most Motorola Droid Bionic users. While the rollout originally started last Friday, it had yet to reach everyone. If you haven’t upgraded to ICS, you will be pleased to know that all Bionic owners should have access to the update.
Getting Android 4.0.4 ICS on a smartphone this late in the game is at least a little bit anticlimactic with the unveiling of Android 4.2 just around the corner, but it should still be a welcome enough upgrade for current Bionic owners. So how well does this build work? It seems to depend. While most Droid Bionic users are reporting a positive experience with no bugs or other issues, this isn’t the case for everyone.
Some comments have hit the net suggesting that the update is causing minor glitches, freezing and a few random problems. One user reportedly was unable to connect to his or her cellular network after the update. With that in mind, you might want to proceed with caution.
